Supporting people with learning disabilities
The service is for adults with learning disabilities.
What does the service provide?
The service provides:
- Health education workshops for people with learning disabilities and their carers. These will help improve awareness of health issues and access to healthcare with the aim of offering more control and self-management of their health
- Advice for people with learning disabilities and carers on health-related topics
- Advocacy to enable people with learning disabilities and their carers to access health services
- A range of easy-read material on health related matters, such as cancer screening, keeping healthy, having a balanced diet and issues that are currently topical e.g. how to survive a heat wave
How do I access the service?
You or your carer/family can contact Harrow Mencap either by web or phone and ask for a referral form. Referrals can also be made from professionals in social care, health and education.
The service is available Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.30pm.
The service is provided by Harrow Mencap – a voluntary sector organisation.
