Food Safety Training
About the Level 2 Award
Last year hundreds of thousands of people suffered from vomiting, diarrhoea and pain as a result of food poisoning. About 100,000 needed medical attention and several died.
Public concern about Salmonella, Campylobacter and other disease bacteria has shown the importance of clean and hygienic food businesses. However cleanliness alone is not enough if staff do not fully understand the importance of temperature control, cross contamination, disinfection, etc.
The possibility of food poisoning occurring is a cause for concern for owners of restaurants, other food businesses and their customers. A case of food poisoning doesn't just affect the victim. The business could lose its reputation and your customers. They might even be prosecuted or be sued for compensation.
So how do we ensure that we handle food the correct way? The first step is to ensure that the staff who are handling food, actually know and understand the theory of hygienic food preparation. The Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering is designed to do just that, by giving people a basic level of understanding.
