Playbuilder project
Introduction to Playbuilder Project
Harrow Council and the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) are committed to providing exciting and attractive play facilities for children, young people and families through the Playbuilder Programme.
The council has been awarded a grant of £1.1 million by the DCSF to improve 22 play areas before March 2011, primarily for the 8-13 age group. We have identified 11 sites for consultation in 2009. Funding has also been received from BIG Lottery Fund.
The Playbuilder project will include developments and improvements to existing playgrounds, with a particular focus on the areas where 'play deficiencies' have been identified. It will also focus on providing much-needed improvements to the play spaces that serve some of the more disadvantaged social housing areas in the borough.
A key part of the project, which builds on the work already taking place in Harrow to deliver the council's Play Strategy and BIG Lottery Fund play projects, will be a consultation process with residents and potential users.
