Harrow EarlyBird and EarlyBird Plus

What are EarlyBird and EarlyBird+?

imageEarlyBird and EarlyBird Plus are two learning programmes for parents who have a child with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum.

The programmes were devised and are monitored by the National Autistic Society.

Professionals from the Portage Service, Speech and Language Service and the Advisory Teachers for Autistic Spectrum, are licensed by the National Autistic Society to present the programme to parents. Both programmes run once a week over a 3 month period.

EarlyBird

For parents of children up to the age of 4 years 11 months who have not started a school reception class. This programme is for parents and carers only. Each 13 week programme offers 2 places to 6 families (i.e. 12 adults) There are 8 group sessions and 3 home visits during the programme. Every effort is made to offer a crèche for the duration of each group session.

EarlyBird Plus

For parents of children aged 4yrs to 8 years 11 months. The programme is for parents and a key member of staff from the child's school i.e. Learning support assistant, Senco. Each 10 week programme offers 3 places to 6 families (2 family members + 1 school staff) There are 8 group sessions (term time only) and 2 home visits.
