The Law
The School Standards & Framework Act 1998 gives parents the right to express a preference as to the school they would like their child to attend. The Local Authority must comply with this preference unless it would prejudice the provision of efficient education or the efficient use of resources. Parents may appeal against any decision of the Local Authority to an Appeals Panel.
