Recycling: interesting facts
Why recycling is so important
The government has said we must recycle and compost 40% of our waste by the end of 2010. If we do not reach this target, we will be fined and the cost will be passed on to you through your council tax.
Recycling reduces the demand for raw materials, allowing waste materials to be used again and again and again. Most of the every day produces we use can be recycled into something else.
Recycling uses less energy to produce goods because it reduces the need to manufacture from virgin materials, reducing the need for logging and quarrying for example. It also helps reduce greenhouses gases which combats global warming.
All in all, it's good for your pocket and good for your environment.
