Harrow Council

Councillor - general information

Local councillors are elected by the community to decide how the council should carry out its various activities. As well as forming part of the Council's decision-making process, councillors also form an essential link between the Council and the constituents they represent. As such, councillors may be contacted by constituents and some councillors hold regular "surgeries" in their wards.

Councillors are not paid a salary for their work but they do, however, receive an allowance designed to recompense them for the work which they undertake.

The Councillor pages are where you can find your councillors and more information on them. There is a map of Harrow with ward boundaries displayed.

Some Councillors have portfolio roles.  A councillor is elected on an annual basis to be the Mayor of Harrow.  This takes place at the Council meeting which takes place in May each year.

If you wish to find out who your MP is, the elected representatives page lists them.

Harrow is divided into 21 wards, each ward is represented by three councillors.

At present, the Labour party has overall control of Harrow Council with 34 seats out of 63.

  • Labour holds 34 seats
  • Conservatives hold 27 seats
  • Liberal Democrats hold 1 seat
