Leaving the care service

Harrow Leaving Care Team

Harrow Leaving Care Team provides a service for all young people who have continued to be looked after for a period of at least 13 weeks since the age of 14. The majority of these young people remain looked after when they are 16 and have previously had an allocated social worker from the Children In Need team.

They can receive a service up until they are 21 (24 if in full time higher education). Some young people have left the 'Care System' before they are 16. However, between 16 and 17 years of age they are entitled to a service from the Leaving Care Team. Many young adults aged 18-21 who have been looked after by Harrow experience difficulties in their lives.

They can access services from the Leaving Care Team. There are a small number of adults under 21 who were looked after before October 2001 - they also are able to access services from the Leaving Care Team.
