Family Link needs more carers

Volunteers needed for family link

MORE CARERS NEEDED TO GIVE A LITTLE TIME AND MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE TO A DISABLED CHILD AND THEIR FAMILY

  • Harrow Family Link is asking ordinary people in Harrow to 'Give a little time and make a big difference' to local children with disabilities and their families
  • Harrow family Link has a real need for more short break carers to support families of disabled children locally.
  • Short breaks are not one-off holidays but are regular opportunities for disabled children to enjoy spending time with a Family Link carer and doing things that other children take for granted. At the same time, their families can have a break.
  • There is no such thing as a typical family link carer, just people who enjoy being with children and would welcome the chance to help a disabled child. Short breaks can range from a few hours a week to overnight stays. This is a voluntary activity for which an allowance is paid. Training and support are provided.
  • To find out more about becoming a family link carer in Harrow please ring the Family Link number during office hours
