Needs assessment
Introduction to Needs Assessment
The revised guidance on eligibility criteria for Adult Social Care in February 2010 places a strong emphasis on the provision of prevention, early intervention and support for carers as well as longer term social care.
Harrow Council has implemented this requirement through the provision of a Reablement Service.
During your initial contact with our front door service, information will be gathered which could indicate that you may be in need of community services. This information is confidential and will only be shared with those involved in your care.
Services may then be arranged for a limited period which focus on maintaining your independence and building up your confidence. If it appears that you may be eligible for longer term care then a full needs assessment will take place usually involving a home visit.
Local authority resources are limited so that decisions have to be made as to who needs long term help. There are eligibility criteria for deciding this, sometimes called FACS or fair access to care services. If you would like a copy, please contact us or see the FACS page.
