Hearabouts Audio Magazine

What is Hearabouts?

Hearabouts is a 2 monthly magazine with some articles and stories specially researched and written for it.  Quite often the listeners contribute interesting pieces that they have enjoyed.  There are usually two recorded interviews with local people, or events in each magazine.  A selection of stories, articles, poetry and sometimes music makes up a balanced programme.

There is always a contact phone number if our listeners require any further details.

There is a special noticeboard of information that is not otherwise readily available to blind people, such as local advice from the police.

For gardeners, a tape was specially recorded by Jim Dalgleish, a retired royal gardener on how to make a scented garden. One of the local garden centres agreed to deliver any orders for plants, free  of charge.

Here are some examples of some past articles

  • behind the scenes in the National Theatre in London
  • visit to a specially built village in Denmark where blind people are trainined to be self-reliant
  • a sound picture of the gardens in Tivoli
