Submitting a dispute
If you disagree with the housing benefit department's decision regarding your housing benefit or council tax support you can submit a dispute.
How to submit a dispute
Your dispute must be submitted within one month of the assessment. Please submit your dispute
- via the housing benefits online form, or
- post a letter to the housing benefit disputes and appeals office
Essential information when submitting a dispute
When you submit a dispute please ensure you provide the following information:
- the date of the decision you are asking us to review
- the reason you believe the decision is wrong
- any evidence to support what you are telling us
If you do not provide all of this information we will not be able to consider your dispute.
What to do if you are not happy with the result of your dispute
If you are not happy with the result of your dispute you can submit an appeal. You will need to complete an appeal pack. To request an appeal pack please contact housing benefit disputes and appeals office.
Council tax support
If you disagree with the council's decision regarding your council tax support there is a separate procedure you must follow which involves the Valuation Tribunal. Further information can be found on the council tax support disputes and appeals page.
