When you are temporarily away from your home
When you are receiving housing benefit and council tax support you are required to be living in the property for which you are claiming benefit. There are certain exceptions to this rule which means that some people can continue to claim housing benefit during periods of absence from the property.
Changes to the temporary absence rules
The amount of time you can be away from your home before your Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support entitlement has changed. The change affects both working age and state pension credit age claimants.
