Fees and Charges
Fees and charges from 1 April 2012
Harrow Libraries charge for the hire of non-book material,
and for the late return of items.
- You can borrow books for free, but there is a charge for borrowing sound recordings and films.
- Charges generally change in April each year, so please check the posters on display at the library for the current rates of hire.
- We do charge for any items returned late (if borrowed by an adult). Please check the posters for the current overdue charge rates.
- People with disabilities are not charged for the hire of sound recordings and films, or for late return of stock. Ask staff for further details of this concession.

- Renewing - books, recordings and films may be renewed by telephone or returned to any branch during opening hours. If you renew a recording or film, you will have to pay the full loan charge again.
- Reservations - £1.00 per item (under 14s free).
- Requests for books and recordings that are not in Harrow Libraries - £5.40
charge per item obtained from outside Harrow, in addition to the reservation
charge of £1.00 per item.
- Concessions - children under 14 years and library users with a disability do not pay all the charges listed above. Ask staff for details.
- Lost items - lost or damaged library materials and equipment - charges are up to the full replacement cost of the item or set.
- Replacement membership cards - £1.40 (70p if under 14 years)
- Computer use - free
- Printing - 20p per sheet
- Photocopies: black & white - A4 = 15p, A3 = 25p
- Photocopies: colour (Civic Centre and Gayton Libraries only) - A4 = £1.00, A3 = £1.50
