Car sharing
Useful information
Fact: There are currently 10 million empty seats on our roads every day! Car sharing is where two or more people travel to work together instead of in separate cars. They may pool their cars and alternate between them, or regularly use a single vehicle and contribute to the costs. It will help to reduce traffic congestion, pollution and parking problems in and around the borough.
"The West London Car Sharing scheme is a joint venture between Transport for London and the boroughs of Harrow, Brent, Hounslow, Hillingdon and Ealing. The Car Sharing scheme is designed to encourage more people to share a car to their destination. Sharing your car with at least one other person helps reduce traffic congestion, pollution and parking problems in and around West London.
All you need to do is sign up at www.westlondoncarshare.com, register a journey and find a match all in less than five minutes. As well as being environmentally friendly, car sharing among friends to a concert or exhibition, or work colleagues giving each other a lift to work can be a great way of injecting good conversation and humour into any road trip. Private groups have already been set up for people travelling to film festivals, pop concerts and other events and is a unique way to meet people with the same interests, and if a group doesn't exist for the event you're going to, it's simple to create one. The private group facility also means you can go into work with someone who works in the same building as you and meetings can start on time with more people travelling together.
Why not bring the West London Car Share scheme to your organisation's attention and start sharing the drive to make a difference!"
