The Belmont Trail
Planned improvements
The Belmont railway line was closed in 1964. After closing, the line became a useful informal walking route along the disused railway track. Over recent years, there has been a lot of fly tipping in the area and the overgrown shrubs have been left unattended for too long.
The council is now trying to improve the route and make it friendlier for all to use.
The improvements are likely to take several years and we do not having funding for all the work we would like to do. However this page will be updated with information on changes along the route as these take place.
The route considered to be part of the trail can be seen here: Belmont Trail route plan
Some funding for this work has been made available by Transport for London as part of the Cycling on Greenways funding.
It is hoped that the entire route will become cycle friendly and more attractive to local walkers.
