Drug Action Team (DAT)

Welcome

The Drug Action Team (DAT) is responsible for delivering the drug and alcohol strategies at a local level.

The DAT sits within the wider service area - PREVENTION - which also co-ordinates the provision and performance management of services aimed at reducing Violence against the person (with an emphasis on Domestic Violence) and the impact of Crime.

The DAT is a partnership combining representatives from local authorities (education, social services, housing) health, probation, the prison service and the voluntary sector. It ensures that the work of local agencies is brought together effectively and that cross -agency projects are co-ordinated successfully.

DATs take strategic decisions on expenditure and service delivery to ensure that the residents of Harrow have a range of services aimed at reducing the harms associated with problematic drug and alcohol use to the individual, their families and the wider community.

The Work Involves:

  • Commissioning specialist treatment and public health services
  • Monitoring services and reporting on performance and impact on reducing the harms associated with problematic use of drugs and alcohol
  • Consulting with and communicating plans, activities and performance to the wider community through a variety of forums.
