Vitality Views
Vitality Views is Harrow Council's health and wellbeing magazine for over 50s and Care Service Users. It aims to inform you about the services Harrow Council provides and the activities on offer around Harrow. It is part of our commitment to improving the support and quality of life for our older and more vulnerable residents.
The latest edition in winter 2011, looks at how we might be able to run services differently to save money. In this edition you will read about services that have already changed, including Reablement, which focuses on helping you to stay in your own home after an accident or illness; alternative forms of accommodation for vulnerable people, such as extra care housing and supported living; and our award-winning shop4support service; not to mention Personal Budgets, which continue to be at the centre of all of our work in Adult Social Care.
The magazine also offers advice about health and wellbeing, and highlights the many activities and events being held in Harrow over the winter, to help you to stay healthy and well over the colder months.
Back editions
The first edition in summer 2009, featured '50 things to try this summer', an update about 'Personalised Budgets', all you need to know about staying in your home or moving to accommodation that suits your needs, plus an 'Are you eligible?' section which covers everything from how to apply for a Freedom Pass to 'Helping to reduce your fuel bills'.
The second edition in autumn 2009, built on the positive feedback we received following our first edition, and included articles about the services most relevant to our readers and how to access them. We also featured Gillian McKeith, who presents 'You Are What You Eat', giving her advice on 'Winter Wellbeing'.
The third edition in summer 2010, focused on activities over the summer, wellbeing tips, services available to our residents over 50 and care service users, and our brand new 'Centre Focus', which looks at the wonderful work of the Milmans Day Service. We also interviewed celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver, who champions healthy eating and locally grown food. He recommended taking a look at local Farmers' Markets over the summer, for the freshest fruit and vegetables.
