Grass Cutting
Grass Maintenance
The majority of grass cutting operations will normally take place on a three weekly basis commencing in March and finishing in October.
Due to recent years 'mild winters' we have started grass cutting earlier in the year in order to improve our service. The majority of our grass verges are cut and collected to provide the best finish. However, to provide the best service especially in periods of high grass growth in a cost effective way different machinery may be used dependant upon the nature of the area to be cut.
The grass cutting programme is very weather dependant and there may be occasions when the programme is extended due to inclement weather. We monitor our performance on a daily basis to ensure a good quality of service is maintained.
The Council cuts grass to ensure that people can use roads and pavements safely. Although environmental issues are of paramount concern, grass cutting is actually carried out for highway safety reasons rather than environmental purposes.
