The procedure for Harrow Council staff to visit schools

All school visits must be pre-arranged.

Harrow Council staff are required to provide the following when visiting schools:

  • proof of identity, and
  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance

This statement will provide clarity and assurance that employment checks have been carried out by the Local Authority:

We can confirm that all social work staff, early intervention officers and school improvement officers employed by Harrow Council have been subject to an enhanced DBS check.

This applies to both locum and permanent staff in the positions of:

  • Advisory Teachers - Autism Spectrum
  • Children's Sensory Team
  • Deputy Managers
  • Divisional Directors
  • Early Intervention Workers
  • Educational Psychology Service (EPS)  
  • Gym and Playground Inspection
  • Harrow Council Gardening Services
  • Harrow Virtual School
  • Members of Harrow School Standards and Effectiveness (HSSE)
  • Music Service Teachers and Tutors
  • Operations Managers
  • Portage
  • School Organisation, Admissions and Attendance (Including Court Attendance Officers and Alternative Provision Lead)
  • Schools Finance Team
  • SIMS Team
  • Social Work Assistants
  • Social Workers
  • Special Education Need Assessment & Review Service (SENARS)
  • Team Managers
  • Trade Waste

All staff are required to provide proof of identity when they visit your school. We confirm that you should accept a photographic Harrow Council ID badge in this regard.
