‘Fun House!’ for the Under 5s

Free fun for the under 5s! Each session involves handling objects from the collection, as well as songs, crafts and stories to aid learning and development. Fun House! is held every week during term-time at 2pm on Wednesdays. No need to book, just drop in! Fun House! is ideal for Early Years development and is great for social interaction, for both parents and kids!

What is 'Fun House!'?
'Fun House!' is a FREE drop-in session at Harrow Museum for parents with children under the age of five. Funding was awarded to the museum so that it could provide fun interactive sessions for its younger visitors. Harrow Museum is keen to encourage parents with young children to the museum as a way of encouraging lifelong museum engagement. Fun House! shows children that museums are fun!

What happens at each session?
Each session lasts for about 30 minutes. The sessions are similar to 'Baby Bounce' at Harrow Libraries - but with a twist! At Harrow Museum the children have the chance to touch museum objects and do simple art activities, as well as joining in with songs and rhymes and movement actions.

Why is it called 'Fun House!'?
All the objects that the children get to see, touch or handle come from the museum's domestic history collection, ranging from olden day mangles to ticking grandfather clocks.

What about practical arrangements for Harrow Museum with a small child?
The museum has a shop and café, so it's perfect for a nice cup of tea after each session providing the opportunity to chat to other parents. There is plenty of car parking space outside and buggy parking space inside! Plus there are toilets and baby changing facilities. The Tithe Barn is accessible for parents with buggies but if you do need any help there is always a member of staff or a volunteer on hand to help.

When and where does 'Fun House!' take place?
'Fun House!' takes place every Wednesday during Harrow school term times, starting at 2pm. An experienced member of museum staff leads each session. There is no need to book and no fee, just drop in! All sessions take place in the Tithe Barn, the largest building as you approach the museum. Please see the map on the reverse of this page for directions to the museum.

If you would like any more details about Fun House! please get in touch with the museum, where staff will be happy to help with any enquiry.
