School support staff roles

The more significant responsibilities the job has, generally the higher pay it will have. 

 

School support staff are paid on Harrow Council pay grades.  From 1 April 2008, (2009 pay award pending) these start from H1 grade £14,517 for someone working 36 hrs per week all year round (ie not term time only). 

 

Generally school staff work only during the term time and fewer hours than people in other industries. They typically work 30 hours per week for 39 weeks of the year.  Consequently their pay is roughly 25% - 35% less; that's around £9,000 - £10,500 depending on their weekly hours.

 

Pay: actual pay V pro rata pay

• "£ actual pay" means how much money you actually get paid
• "£ pro rata" salaries display the fulltime, all year round salary, but you need to deduct an amount depending on how many hours/days/weeks you work to calculate how much you'll receive
