Types of schools / age range

Harrow's schools cover the whole age range and we have many types of schools:

  • Primary school
Pupils aged 4-11 years in first, middle, and combined first and middle.  See the primary schools guide (2009/10) for more information
  • Secondary schools (high schools)
Students aged 12-16 years or 12-18 years with sixth forms now running in many schools.  See the secondary schools guide (2009/10) for more information.
  • Special schools
Pupils and students aged 4 -18 years with special educational needs
  • Faith schools (voluntary aided schools)
These schools tend to follow a particular faith or ethos.  Their governing bodies, rather than Harrow Council, determine and publishe how school places are filled
  • Community schools
These are schools which Harrrow Council determines how school places are filled
You can see our full school list here.

Note:
From September 2010 schools will change their age ranges becoming infant, junior and secondary schools.
