Tenant claims against the council
In order to make a claim for damages against the council (or its staff) you must put your claim in writing to the residents services (details on the right), and give your name and full contact details.
Details to be included in the claim are:
- circumstances and nature of the incident with time
- date and location.
- extent of damage injury or loss,
- details of independent witnesses,
- evidence to support cost claimed (receipts) and
- an explanation as to why the claimant believes the Council is at fault.
If the claim is connected to a crime, the crime reference number must also be supplied.
