Domestic Violence also referred to as Domestic Abuse is defined as 'any incident of threatening behaviour, violent or abuse (psychological, emotional, sexual or financial) between adults who are or have been intimate partners, or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality'.
Domestic violence affects people of every class, gender, wealth, geography, age, race, disability, and sexuality. The violence can begin at any stage of a relationship and may continue after the relationship has ended. Domestic violence is a pattern of controlling and aggressive behaviour that is intentional and calculated to exercise power and control within a relationship.
