Harrow Council, Organisation and Managers

Harrow Council is a large and complex organisation, offering hundreds of services to local residents, employing over 2,200 staff, Full-time equivalent (FTE), excluding schools staff, and with a budget of £600m. Including schools Harrow Council employs over 5,000 staff (FTE). The services we run, and the decisions we make affect the every day lives of over 220,000 people. Our team of senior managers have responsibility for the day to day management of all these services.

FTE is a way of measuring the number of staff in the organisation. A full time member of staff will have an FTE of 1.0, and someone working part time will have a reduced FTE value based on the number of hours they work (someone working 18 hours instead of 36 will have an FTE of 0.5). The number of FTEs including non full time staff will be added up to get a full number for the organisation. Using FTE is a way of allowing comparisons of size between councils.
