Business rates payment
How Business Rates are calculated
Your rates bill is calculated by multiplying the rateable value by the multiplier, or Uniform Business Rate.
Multiplier for 2010/11 and previous years
Central Government sets this multiplier. Except in a revaluation year the multiplier cannot rise by more than the rate of inflation.
In England , a lower small business multiplier is used if your business qualifies for Small Business Rate Relief. There are other business rate reliefs you may be entitled to. See the index on business rates relief .
In London , there will be a business rate supplement to pay towards Crossrail. Transition will not apply to the supplement.
