Local Area Agreement
Local Area Agreements were first introduced as a pilot in 2005 and were rolled out across the following two years to all upper tier authorities. The purpose of the agreements was to be used as a performance tool to help local areas agree common priorities across partners with central government and use both pooled and aligned funding to achieve the priorities. Harrow successfully negotiated its first LAA in April 2006.
Harrow's current LA was agreed on 1st June 2008 with central government and has recently been refreshed, March 2010. Harrow's new LAA will run until March 31st 2011 and reflects the work that partners need to do over the next 3 years to improve the quality of life for local people.
Harrow' previous LAA has successfully reduced residents' fear of crime as well as making progress on improving the health of local people by reducing the number of people who smoke in the borough to one of the lowest levels in London
