Nationality Checking Service
Introduction
The Nationality Checking Service is a partnership between the Border and Immigration Agency (formerly the Home Office) and Harrow Council. We check applications which are being submitted for British Citizenship. The checking of applications is strictly by appointment only. In order to make an appointment, please telephone us on the number below. Appointments always available.
Applicants must confirm that they were present in the UK at the start of the qualifying period, and that they will not be absent from the UK within 5 working days from the date of the application being checked. All applicants must attend in person.
We photocopy original documents which are being submitted in support of the application. This means that applicants are able to travel on their current foreign passports, while their applications for Citizenship are being considered by the Border and Immigration Agency.
We will then forward the complete application to the offices of the Border and Immigration Agency Nationality Group in Liverpool. That completes our service to applicants.
For this service we will charge a fee. Please see the separate price list.
Please download the application form from the Home Office website and complete before booking an appointment.
Harrow Council is regulated by the Office of the Immigration Service Commissioner (OISC) who are an independent public body set up under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999. We currently have staff who have been vetted by OISC to work as Level One Immigration Advisors and are thus licensed to operate the Nationality Checking Service. This means that we are not allowed to offer further immigration advice once the Nationality Checking Service appointment is completed. For example, after applications have been submitted, the applicants themselves are responsible for answering any follow up enquiries from the Border and Immigration Agency.
