Harrow Arts Centre
Welcome to Our Arts Programme
Harrow Arts Centre has always been a place where you can see the best in theatre, music, dance, comedy, live literature, film and visual arts on your doorstep.
This Spring at the Harrow Arts Centre we have another great season of entertainment across the entire arts spectrum.
Our most eye-catching show this season is perhaps our hosting of big-name comedian Jimmy Carr, as he warms up for his new show Gagging Order within the splendour of our Elliott Hall. His sardonic style and biting wit needs no further introduction and tickets will shift fast. Comedy fans will also want to see Laurence Clark, a highly rated act who links together the Queen, George Washington and Armageddon with aplomb in his Health Hazard show.
We have a strong theatre line-up this Spring, with children the main beneficiaries. In addition to performances of the classics Pinocchio and Goldilocks, Aesop Touring Theatre's World War II will provide them with an interesting and humorous introduction to the 1939-1945 conflict. They will also love 2headedpigeon's Threadbare Greebo, an intriguing tale of a boy made out of cloth who attempts to escape the confines of the forest he lives in. For adult audiences, the Muslim Jewish Theatre's show The SparkDone is bound to raise eyebrows and eruptions of laughter.
Having hosting the London Jazz Festival for the first time last November, We are proudly making our first foray into the London Asian Film Festival by screening Bol (Speak), a challenging film which details the life of an impoverished Lahore family as they attempt to make ends meet. In conjunction with Bol will be the two-week Re-inventing Bollywood exhibition, giving people the chance to view photos of past festivals. We are also screening films to cater for children (Cars 2, Gnomeo & Juliet and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2) and for adults (The Graduate, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Bridesmaids) to name just a few.
Musically we are hosting some of the finest talents around. As part of our H-Wired series we have leading jazz vocalist Jacqui Dankworth performing music from her most recent critically acclaimed album 'It Happens Quietly', as well as dynamic jazz/blues band the Peter Edwards Trio. Our 100% series is a great platform for upcoming musicians to showcase their talent and our Airplay series hosts Mr.Disfit and Evarane. The former deals in introspective gospel music, the latter in synth-rock. Both will be brilliant. A rather special event is Kishore's Knight, a charity concert featuring songs by the late great Indian singer Kishore Kumar in aid of the Adhyashakti temple.
Dance lovers are well catered for. Tea Dance is a great opportunity for both beginners and experienced dancers the chance to perfect their foxtrots and rumbas under the tutelage of Terry and Rita from Terry's Dance Music. Interested in Kathak? Gul-Dasta - Flower Vase with Several Colours, a student dance show case led by leading UK Kathak guru Padmashri Pratap Pawar is not to be missed. We are also extending our 100% series to dance for the first time. If you are fleet of foot, there is no better place in Harrow to flaunt it than here.
As always, there are a variety of different workshops taking place here. They include Art Classes, English Literature, Life Sculpture Pilates, Sitar, Tai Chi and Zumba. These are in addition to our HAC Heritage Tour and various school exhibitions.
Every day there is something happening at the Harrow Arts Centre. Make sure you sample the fantastic events we have on offer in our Spring season.
