Introduction
Healthy Schools in Harrow
The Public Health Team commissions the Harrow Healthy Schools programme which provides specialist support to schools regarding a number of important public health topics: emotional health and wellbeing, healthy eating and physical activity.
Healthy school London status
The support provided by the programme helps schools to achieve a Healthy School London status. Healthy Schools London is an awards programme which recognises a schools achievement in supporting pupils health and wellbeing. To gain a bronze award the school must be committed to improving pupils health including - healthy eating, physical activity, emotional wellbeing, environment and PSHE (personal, social, health, education). To gain silver and gold the school must have identified specific health problems in their school and shown how they have improved the problems.
The programme has been running since October 2014 and is funded for a year by Harrow Council. All schools will have access to the services, but schools with the greatest need will be prioritised.
