Voluntary Aided Hindu primary school
The new school
Harrow is home to the first Hindu voluntary aided school in the country following a successful bid for government funding.
The Krishna-Avanti Primary School is being promoted by I-Foundation - a charitable organisation. The school will be established as a one-form entry mixed primary school with attached nursery, and will cater from Nursery through Year 7. The school opened in September 2008, and will fill on a year-by-year incremental basis to minimise impact on other schools. The new school has pledged to become a full and active partner with our other local schools involving itself in inter-school activities, outreach and community work with local residents and children of all faiths and cultural background.
At its meeting on 16 January 2007, the Harrow School Organisation Committee approved the educational case for the Krishna-Avanti Primary School.
At the Strategic Planning Committee meeting on 10 September 2007, the proposal was accepted subject to the completion of a legal agreement.
The proposed single storey school will occupy a 2.25-hectare site at part of the William Ellis Playing Fields, Camrose Avenue, Edgware, Harrow, HA8 6ES. However during building works until September 2009 the school is at the following address: Krishna-Avanti School c/o Little Stanmore School St Davids Drive Edgware HA8 6JH.
When full the school will offer 236 places for pre-school to 11 year-olds.
