How to pay council rent
Direct Debit
You can arrange for your bank or building society to deduct the rent from your account every month in advance. When your rent changes, we will tell you about it and the amount you pay will be changed automatically.
Under the Direct Debit Guarantee, you get 14 days' notice of any change in the amount of the charge to your account and an immediate refund of any amounts taken from your account in error. Your bank statement will provide a complete record of the payments you make.
Full details of the guarantee are shown on the direct debit instruction.
Standing order
If you would like to pay by Standing Order please give our bank details and your rent account number to your bank and advise them of the amount and payment frequency you wish to set up eg weekly, fortnightly, 4 weekly or calendar monthly.
Allpay Card
You can pay at any post office or facility across the country showing the Paypoint sign, using the plastic card we give you. You will be given a receipt for you payment. Please keep all receipts as proof of payment. If you want to pay by this method contact your housing officer. A paypoint card will usually be issued within 48 hours of your call.
Payment kiosk
There is a payment kiosk installed in the wall (located in Access Harrow, Civic Centre) where tenants can pay rent by cash or credit/debit cards while the Civic Centre is open (Monday - Friday, 8.30am-7pm)
By telephone (telephone number top right)
You can pay the cashier by credit/debit card either via the contact centre or via the automated payment line. There is charge for credit card payments.
By post
You can pay your rents by posting a cheque to the Council. Please write your address and reference number clearly on the back of the cheque. If we do not know your address, we cannot make sure the rent goes onto your account. Please do not send cash. Please make cheques available to 'Harrow Council'.
