Short Breaks for Disabled Children

Families with disabled children have told the Government that their No.1 priority is regular and reliable short breaks from caring.

Short breaks provide opportunities for disabled children and young people to spend time away from their primary carers. Parents and carers can recharge their batteries and disabled children can experience positive activities and make new relationships.

A short break may be for a few hours, evening, overnight or weekend activity and may take place at home, in a paid carer's home, in the community, or in a residential setting.
