Aiming High for Disabled Children (AHDC):

Introduction to AHDC

Aiming High is a national programme launched after a Government review of services in 2007. It includes a range of measures designed to transform services for disabled children and their families. These measures are supported by a 'core offer' which sets out national expectations about how services should be delivered locally. The core offer relates to:

  • Accessibility of information
  • Transparency in decision-making
  • Improved assessment practices
  • Greater involvement of parent/carers, children and young people in decisions affecting their treatment, care or support
Through the AHDC programme, significant national funds are being committed for improving short breaks (PDF leaflet), childcare, transition support and parent participation.
