What is a Neighbourhood Champion?
Neighbourhood Champions are volunteers whose role is to inform us about everyday street level nuisances so that these issues can be speedily resolved, including: litter; graffiti; fly-tipping; noise; defective street lights. They can report to us via:
- our website
- by email
- by phone
Issues that need reporting are likely to be very minimal, because a neighbourhood champion only covers a small area near their home (either their street, local open space, park etc). There are no formal obligations to the role, and volunteers can do as little or as much as they like. So even if you are working or out of the house during the day, it's still a role you can do.
All new Neighbourhood Champions are given:
- an induction on the scope
of the role
- a free Welcome Resource Pack including a guidebook, folder and handy notebook and pen.
We'll keep you informed about the scheme through a quarterly newsletter and there will be opportunities to meet with local councillors and Police representatives throughout the year so you can share your views.
