Joining the LGPS

To be eligible to join the LGPS, you have to have a contract of employment that's for at least 3 months, be under age 75 and work for an employer that offers membership of the Scheme.

Membership is automatic for most eligible employees. Check your payslip to see if you are paying in and if not, contact your employer to see if you can join. It is important that you complete and return any joining form sent to you. On receipt of your form, relevant records will be set up and an official notification of your membership in the Scheme will be sent to you.
