High Street Fund: Rayners Lane

Rayners Lane is located in the south west of Harrow. The town centre is located around Rayners Lane underground station. It extends to the south of the station on Alexandra Avenue, and to the north on Imperial Drive and Rayners Lane. The centre also includes Village Way East which links Rayners Lane with Imperial Drive.

The town centre is well served for convenience shopping, services and community facilities. There is a selection of restaurants, cafés and takeaways, including small independent outlets and some chain outlets.

The shopping area runs along Rayners Lane, Alexandra Avenue, Village Way East and Imperial Drive. The high street improvements are designed to encourage more activity in the town centre and help refresh the Alexandra Avenue, Imperial Drive, and the Village Way East area.

We consulted local residents for their views about the proposed changes for the Rayners Lane, High Street area. Their feedback was included in the design stages. This helped create high street schemes that suit local needs.

Several road junctions and public spaces are proposed for improvement. They include Copenhagen crossings, new pavements, outdoor seating areas, trees and planting. We also installed new artwork murals and added lighting features.
