Harrow and Wealdstone Area Action Plan
What is the Area Action Plan?
Harrow Council with support from the Greater London Authority are preparing an Area Action Plan which is a detailed masterplan including new town planning policies to help guide development and accomodate growth in the area. The Heart of Harrow, also known as the Intensification Area includes Harrow town centre, large parts of Wealdstone and the Station Road corridor that links the two centres.
Public Consultation - 12 January - 23 February 2012
The second consultation on the Area Action Plan has now closed. This built on the responses to the initial Issues and Options consultation back in May 2011. There will be a further opportunity for you to have a say on the strategy that will guide development in the Heart of Harrow, and on detailed site allocations and policies that will be used to determine planning applications in July 2012.
Key FactsThe LDF Core Strategy envisages the provision of 2,800 new homes and 3,000 jobs within the Heart of Harrow in the period up to 2026.
The Area Action Plan will:
- Guide regeneration and development within the Intensification Area
- Ensure greater clarity and certainty about how the different parts and places of the Intensification Area are to be developed
- Their relationship to neighbouring areas, and their role in delivering the spatial vision for the area as a whole
- Set out the development principles and objectives, spatial policies, detailed development management policies
- Identify new infrastructure and services required to bring about change.
To inform the preparation of the Area Action Plan (AAP), the Council appointed East Architects, supported by GVA Grimley and Alan Baxter Associates, to carry out a masterplanning study which is a key part of the Area Action Plan.
